Last night's southerly has whipped up a fresh SSE windswell in the one metre range. Despite the cross/onshore SSE winds, there's actually some ok little waves about on open stretches. Bondi is 3ft and thre's also a wave at Bronte and the northern end of Maroubra. As i said the wind is into it, but it is highely surfable. Check the Coastalwatch swell forecast.

Laguna has fairly consistent surf even though it is quite exposed thanks to a reef break.

Winter is the best time to surf here.

Best Wind Direction: East Northeast

Swell: Groundswells are more frequent than Windswells. Best direction is from the West Northwest.

Crowds: When tides are high look out for crowds.

Warning: Beware of Mines

Quad fish are fast becoming the summer board choice for advanced surfers who want to get every extra inch of speed in small waves. 4-fin design is not new and is now appearing on bigger boards, guns and even longboards

Fish surfboards are great for surfing smaller waves as fish surf boards are usually shorter but wider and thicker. Fish surfboards are generally grouped into retro fish (twin fin), quad fish or normal thruster fish surfboards. Many designs and the bigger fish surfboards are now the preferred choice for people learning to surf. Fish allow learners to progress beyond the turning limitations of a mini-mal surfboard or a longboard. They are also popular with the "big boys" who want something to rip it up on.

Even the smallest waves you'll be able to catch with ease. You can get the smallest longboard (about 8 ft) because you are small. I would not get a shortboard.
